Letters of Recommendation
I am happy to write letters of recommendation for past and present students. What I say will be directly tied to your performance in class, so before asking please consider what feedback you have received from me. Please follow these guidelines:
*Allow a minimum of two weeks (14 days) for me to write the letter.
*Please make sure to provide the following information:
-When I need to submit the letter
-Where I need to send it
-Whether or not you have waived your right to see the letter
-What the letter is for (be specific and concise—do not just send a link to the program/company/etc. rather, write a short paragraph summarizing the opportunity and why you are a good candidate)
-What I should highlight in order to make the letter as appropriate and convincing as possible (your writing skills, your mastery of spoken French, your extracurricular activities—if so, I need details, etc.)
*Also, please send me a short paragraph that, in an ideal world, would be included in the letter. I will never use this verbatim, but it helps be understand what you think needs saying, how you view your performance and why you should get the grant/job/etc rather than somehow else.
